Hi! I’m Lucy,

a 20-year-old photographer, filmmaker, and Creative Media student based in Lubbock, Texas. I’m currently a junior at Texas Tech University majoring in Creative Media Industries, and I’m also the owner of Lucy Behind the Camera, my photography business that I’ve been building for the past few years.

My love for storytelling started with my dad, who works in audio and visual production. Growing up around his cameras, tripods, and editing equipment sparked my interest in the creative world from a young age. I loved seeing how a camera could capture a moment, tell a story, and make someone feel something. That curiosity eventually turned into something much bigger.

In high school, I attended James Reese Career and Technical Education Center in Sugar Land, Texas, where I was part of the Audio/Visual Production program. I then attended Houston Community College during my freshman and sophomore years while continuing to build my photography business.

About a year ago, I decided to leave my job and go all in on photography. Since then, my business has grown tremendously. I’ve officially registered my business in Texas, and photography has become my full-time career alongside being a student.

I also work as an assistant video editor for Asa Howard-McKnight, where I help create short-form content and edit videos for clients. A big part of my work has been editing content for clients including Brooklyn and Bailey, and I’ve had the opportunity to work on a lot of projects that have pushed me to grow as an editor and storyteller.

My faith is also a huge part of who I am. I’m a worship leader at my church, and getting to use music and creativity to serve God and connect with other people is something I’m incredibly grateful for.

Outside of school, photography, and editing, I’m probably singing, watching a movie, spending time with friends, or doing something Disney related. I’ve always loved Disney and movies, and I think that love for storytelling is a big part of why I’m drawn to film and visual media in the first place.

I’ve also always been a theatre kid at heart. I spent all of high school involved in performance and storytelling, and that experience taught me so much about creativity, collaboration, and bringing a story to life. In a lot of ways, I think that’s what eventually led me behind the camera.

Now that I’m in Lubbock, I’m excited to see where this next chapter takes me. I’m continuing my education at Texas Tech, growing Lucy Behind the Camera in a new city, working in video editing, and constantly finding new ways to create.

At the end of the day, I’m incredibly grateful that I get to make a career out of something I genuinely love. I love creating, meeting new people, learning new things, and getting to be a small part of the moments that matter to the people I work with.
